FPP June 2021 “Better Together” Virtual Session: “Human Trafficking in America – Awareness and Resources for Financial Capability Practitioners”

Virtual Session Registrants will receive an e-mail directly from Zoom to access this session.

Globally, 4.8 million persons are forced into sexual exploitation, and the US is one of the largest consumers of victims of human trafficking.

Suncoast Credit Union, in partnership with the United States Institute of Human Trafficking, shares an awareness initiative that offers industry-specific human trafficking content designed to enlighten and engage professionals, advocates, and community partners.

To combat this horrific crime, we must collectively become enlightened to the crisis. We must allow ourselves to become enraged that children as young as infants are being sold in our communities. We must then become enraged and take action for those that cannot take action for themselves.

“You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again that you did not know.”

– William Wilberforce

FPP July 2021 “Better Together” Virtual Session: Making Sense of the Child Tax Credit Changes for Those We Serve

Virtual Session Registrants will receive an e-mail directly from Zoom to access this session.

The newly passed legislation of this last year regarding the Child Tax Credit can be confusing for many of us as Financial Capability practitioners, and can be equally confusing for those we serve.  The increased 2021 Child Tax Credit and issues that may arise with separated or divorced parents in the new legislation begs many questions that we as practitioners must be better equipped to answer:

To whom will the Treasury Department pay the payments?

How are the payments treated for parents who alternate claiming a child or children?

Will the payments be based upon who claimed the child in the prior tax year?

Bring your questions and your own knowledge and insights to share with your peers in this highly interactive, engaging FPP Virtual Session, led by our attorney expert partners!

FPP August 2021 “Better Together” Virtual Session II: Why Financial Capability has to Be in the Equation for True Inclusion to Exist

Virtual Session Registrants will receive an e-mail directly from Zoom to access this session.

Inclusion has been proven to be one of the biggest factors in an organization's mission attainment.  If people feel excluded in an organization, productivity suffers.

The same is true in the United States of America.

The wealth gap has caused division and inequity in our society.  Division and inequity have also caused and perpetuated the wealth gap.  Our society suffers from our inability to come together and bridge the gaps.  We have seen it in politics, race relations, as well as gender and faith differences.

Yet it is socioeconomic differences are the most influential in this nation's quest for equity and inclusion.

Studies show that one of the top predictors of future wealth is existing wealth within the household and family tree.  It is not just the resources, but the Financial Capability knowledge, skill, acumen, and most importantly, access, that make the difference.

When a small fraction of the people in the United States possess a majority of the wealth, the knowledge, skill and acumen are not reaching the masses.  And that leads to a result that is less than True Inclusion for our nation.

Travis and Mike say, let's explore this together!
