Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB): If You’re Struggling to Pay Your Rent Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, You Have Options

April 1, 2021

If the coronavirus pandemic has made it difficult to pay your rent and you’re facing eviction, you may have the right to stay in your home. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is allowing renters to stop certain evictions through June 30, 2021.

The CFPB’s latest video is a step-by-step guide on how to avoid eviction:

  1. Get the Eviction Protection Declaration.
  2. Find out if you’re eligible.
  3. If the statements are true, sign and date the Declaration, then give it to your landlord.
