CFPB Tools & Resources for providing financial education to college students and prospective college students

This month, the CFPB’s Students and Young Consumers team will publish “Your financial path to graduation,” a free, interactive web tool that helps students turn financial aid offers into college financing plans with an eye on long-term affordability. This session is for school counselors, financial aid professionals, college access advisors, and anyone else who helps students figure out how to pay for postsecondary education. We will tour the tool and discuss how to use it in one-on-one advising and financial aid communications. Facilitators will include Kate Mullan from the Students and Young Consumers section of CFPB’s Office of Financial Education; Leissan Sadykova, Assistant Director of Financial Aid at George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health; and Staci Gammage, teacher and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) site coordinator at Stony Point High School in Round Rock, Texas.

Leslie Jones from the CFPB’s Office of Financial Education, who manages initiatives targeted to K-12 educators, will be sharing resources on CFPB’s web page that enable financial educators to access activities that educate students about their options for paying for or saving for college.  Activities include learning how to use a student loan calculator and how federal financial aid can help students pay for higher education.
