The IRS began rolling out economic impact payments this month, delivering financial relief to the majority of Americans. You may be working with people who haven’t received their payments yet or have questions about how much they’re eligible to receive.
For those that don’t typically file taxes because of their income or because they receive certain benefits, they may still need to submit their information to the IRS, and there’s an online portal for non-filers to help them through this process.
For example, veterans or SSI beneficiaries with dependents under 17 must provide their information by Tuesday, May 5, at noon EST in order to receive $500 per dependent in 2020. Otherwise, they may be eligible to receive this money with next year’s tax return.

- Weren’t required to file a tax return because they received Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or VA benefits – but they have dependents under 17 and would qualify for additional payment
